Minutes of a Meeting of <br />The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission <br />June 4, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br />play. There might be an NHL player once in a while, but that is rare. Mr. Garrity said that one of the <br />NOHC Directors claims that it is more productive to have 80 practices than 80 games, of only people <br />would realize that travel is not as productive as practice games, where more is taught. <br /> <br />There is a semi-pro team in Cleveland. It’s head coach has two kids who hasn’t decided where he’s <br />moving, and the NOHC is trying to persuade him to move his kids towards a North Olmsted Program, <br />which would be great for the City. <br /> <br />The NOHC Rec program is probably the biggest one on the west side right now: the in-house <br />program playing once a week. The team consists of kids that don’t travel. They just play once a week <br />and have fun, mostly pick-up hockey. <br /> <br />Ms. Kanis asked if a Motion was needed for what Mr. Garrity wanted accomplished; Mr. Garrity said <br />that no, it just has to move through the required channels of the City to get accomplished. <br /> <br />Ms. Kanis thanked Mr. Garrity for all he did. <br /> <br />This temporarily concluded the Visitors’ Opportunity to Address the Commission. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Minutes of May 2007 <br /> <br />Upon Motion made by Mr. Lasko and duly seconded by Mr. Baxter, the Minutes of May 7, 2007 were <br />approved unanimously. <br /> <br />SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER <br /> <br />Rink Project Status Report <br /> <br />The ice is completely melted. Tom Stein has contacted Burley’s Rink Supply, Inc. and provided <br />material specifications and requested pricing quotes for “u” bends and a header unit. This is a <br />precautionary matter that the Rec is doing in case there are issues with any replacement. The project <br />is on schedule. The next phase will include the following work scheduled for this week, beginning <br />June 4, 2007: “u” bends inspections – there are over 240 “u” bends in the rink, and the inspection of <br />the main header unit. The main header unit is used for the flow of the Freon to make the ice. The <br />header unit has been buried for years. It’s covered in sand.
