Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 10, 2007

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES DIRECTOR

ADA Projects/Playground Equipment

Mr. Dailey reported that all the ADA Projects are finished at the Park. The ages two through five
playground equipment has been installed; final walk-through by the Building Department has been
done. They have been well maintained. So far, there have been no problems with vandalism. The
more they are maintained, Mr. Dailey believes the more they are maintained, the people that use it will
maintain them. If the City lets them fall apart, the kids will help them fall apart even faster.

The installation of the pin on the little sand digger that was dumping sand on the courts has been
ordered and will be forthcoming.

Homecoming Weekend

The Park took a bit of a beating over Homecoming Weekend down at the outfield of Field #1, perhaps
because of the heavy rain just prior and the heavy equipment on the Midway area, so that must be
addressed.

Men’s Shower Room

The Men’s Shower Room was completed for the Pools, scrubbed up pretty well.

Women’s Locker Room

The Women’s Locker Room should be done. Mr. DiSalvo replied that it is, and is back open within
the last week or so. It was closed down, dried out, re-grouted, repainted, and new shower curtains.

Ice Rink

The Ice Rink has been up. Mr. Garrity said the ice is great. It should be painted black and orange
everywhere – we’re North Olmsted. Every day the ice will be edged between 11:30 to Noon to keep
out the bowl effect.

Mr. Garrity wanted to let the Commission know that NOHC will be having the practice here in
November for the Lake Erie League. What they will do is come in for an hour from 5:45 to 6:45, and
then invite kids to skate with them from 6:45 to 7:45. Mr. Dailey said this will be a win-win situation,
and asked Mr. Garrity to keep him posted on the date in November so he could mention it for the
Mayor’s comments and to our local papers as well.
Page 8
