Recreation Commission Minutes <br />February 2, 2004 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Internet <br /> <br />Mr. Miller asked if the vending operator has Internet access because he's seen it at other locations. <br />With so many kids checking their E-mail, it could mean a lot of potential for revenue at the Rec <br />Center. <br /> <br />Parks Concessions <br /> <br />Bid opening for Parks Concessions is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2004 at 12:00 Noon. <br />This concluded the Report of the Recreation Commissioner. <br /> <br />Minutes Approved <br /> <br />Mr. Kelley noted a change in the January 2004 minutes. On page 4, first paragraph, Mr. Kelley <br />wants to change the verbage "He works for an international company" to "He works for <br />businesses". Otherwise, the January 2004 minutes stand as read, per unanimous assent of the <br />present commission members upon motion and due second. <br /> <br />Report of the Safety Director <br /> <br />Equipment/Safety <br /> <br />Mr. Jesse reported that the current Zamboni in use is a used vehicle and that there will be a <br />backup in place. Since there has been a breakdown with the pump, the Rec Department will be <br />going through at least a yearly project of things of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual <br />type system so that through that process the Rec can identify critical items for repair. There is a <br />concern in the existing pool pump room related to a lot of corrosion and rusting. There isn't <br />adequate ventilation, so there has been a lot of moisture that caused a lot of rusting, which was <br />the major cause of the water main break. There are major concerns with piping in general that <br />must be dealt with over the next few years so that there will not be a major catastrophe. <br /> <br /> <br />Security <br /> <br />As far as security, there will be a two part approach. Rather than getting into specs by saying we <br />want so many cameras and recording devices, etc., because of technology changing so quickly, <br />the City could design a system and then have it be obsolete on installation. The bigger item is to <br />follow policies and procedures so that the City is in a position to actually keep track of people. <br />Right now the Rec has the non resident/resident issue. The Rec Center has the We Care Program. <br />It's very difficult to develop a card swipe system or an access system when there are that many <br />variables and that many people with access to the building.
