Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
November 8, 2004

Commission Support/Thanks

Mr. Baxter then stated that the Commission could say thank you for your saying thank you
because, as a group, the Commission did not necessarily do much; however, the Commission did
support the project, and the Chairman and other members thanked Mr. Koch for his atttendance
at the meeting.

This concluded the Visitor’s address to the Commission Meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Jesse moved to approve the Minutes of October. Ms. Kanis seconded the Motion; all were in
favor, and the October 2004 Minutes were approved unanimously after roll call was taken.

SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS

None.

REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER

Contract with Sports Venue Advertising, Inc.

On November 3, 2004, the Sports Venue Advertising, Inc. contract was authorized by the Mayor
and Council. Mr. DiSalvo said that this will enable the Rec Complex to pursue advertising, mainly
in the rink facility.

Ms. Jones asked why North Olmsted does not currently have signs around the rink and the kind of
signs now being considered. The Commissioner replied one of the reasons it hadn’t been pursued
was because the General Fund supplemented that expense; now there is an actual need for it since
there isn’t a General Fund any longer, so it was best to go through City Council to obtain the
money. Ms. Jones asked what the Rec Department would be charging to erect a sign. Mr.
DiSalvo replied that the first year’s projected income is expected to generate between $40,000-
$42,000, according to Joe Yatsko, the President of Sports Venue Advertising, and, during the
second year, $50,000-$100,000 of revenues generated for advertising. The advertisements will be
family oriented (restrictive of tobacco, alcohol and adult entertainment, such as bars). The
guidelines are all in the contract. Ms. Jones asked when the signs will be placed. Ms. Drenski
said that, currently, there are two small Clorox banners. The Commissioner said the major
advertising signs should be in place within the next month or so.

Mr. Baxter said that Dick’s Sporting Goods could take half the signage. The Commissioner
replied that, before Dick’s bought out Galyans, they were very interested, but now with its
reshuffling is holding back any commitment to the Rec Department.
Page 3
