Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
November 8, 2004

With the video security, Mr. DiSalvo continued, there will be packages that can be attached for
access. Security will branch out in phases. Mr. Jesse said that technology is changing so rapidly
that the City can write specs today and be obsolete tomorrow. It was felt that what is needed
were proposals from providers that give the City the best set up so that North Olmsted is not
locked into one thing when something else could be provided in a better way. The key is to have
open access to the building. If the front door can’t be controlled, how can the entire Complex (be
secured)?

Front Desk

Ms. Jones asked about changing the front desk. Mr. DiSalvo said that a reception desk will be
built in front of the ticket booth (the booth to still be used as an office). It will be more patron-
friendly to have the reception desk through which will be entrance only and then exit only where
the glass doors are located, instead of two-way traffic. That alone will increase control: one way
in; one way out.

Election Day

Ms. Drenski said that it was mass confusion on Election Day and that she encountered difficulty
entering the building. The Rec Department needed a lot of entrances and exits. Ms. Kanis asked
how that would fare re security. Ms. Drenski said the voting should have been in the
administrative office conference room so that the voters could have easy access. Ms. Jones asked
where the elections took place. The Commissioners said they were behind the booth in the pool
lobby. The election booth employees set up the night before and, apparently, that is where they
have always set up for voting. (General discussion among the members regarding election voter
turnout.) Ms. Jones asked if the voters will be in front administrative office conference room the
next voting day. The Commissioners said that would be done, making better use of the facility.

New Play Equipment at North Olmsted Park

The new play equipment at North Olmsted Park is scheduled to be installed the week of
th
November 15,2004, probably the 18.

th
Mr. Baxter said he was at the Park yesterday, November 7, when he noticed the crews had
finally moved the old equipment. (Very short period of overlapping conversation).

Field #4 Backstop Installation/Basketball-Volleyball Fencing

Mr. DiSalvo reported that the backstop on Field No. 4 will be installed sometime this week – he
thinks the hardware is being dropped off tomorrow. The backstop should be up by Friday,
Page 5
