Recreation Commission Meeting
September 13, 2004

a $7,000 upgrade. After much discussion, the City of North Olmsted decided to go with that.
Meanwhile, the Engineering Department looked at it and said that they weren’t sure we could do
it by way of the $7,000 upgrade. They contacted Cleveland Water and walked them through it.
Now the project will cost somewhere between $1,500 and $3,000 with a much simpler solution,
so that took time. The way Cleveland Water wanted it to be done would not have helped North
Olmsted long-term. Again, that was another four to five weeks of delays. Luckily, we had
enough rain so it didn’t matter. Long-term, the City wants to be in a position to be at a point
where everyone is satisfied.

Rink Improvement Status

Ms. Drenski said that the main doors that go into the rink will be replaced. The frame is built; the
plastic is being placed on it. The maintenance crew has been working on this project and will get
it done as soon as possible. Hopefully, by the beginning of next week, the frame will be complete
and they will start working on the doors. All the plastic has been delivered to finish the top rail.
Ms. Jones asked what sort of activities are now on the ice. Ms. Drenski said that beginning today
starts the Fall schedule and public skate is starting; DJ Skate starts Friday night, September 17,
2004.

Pool

The indoor pool is open; the outdoor pool closed yesterday.

Skate Park Improvements Status

There were skate park improvements made today. Ms. Drenski did not know exactly what was
done. There were some people from a cement company at the park, and the maintenance crew
repainted the rails. The park was closed today and will be back open tomorrow.

Family Changing Room Status

Mr. Stein, Maintenance Supervisor, will pick up indoor/outdoor carpet tomorrow. The partition
person will be coming next Wednesday. Ms. Jones asked where the family changing room is. Ms.

Drenski replied that it is the old nursery. It’s been recently painted, so the job is nearly complete.

2005 Budget

The Rec Department is beginning preparations for the 2005 Budget with income and expenses.
Each department supervisor will be actively involved with the process and will have more
responsibility throughout the year to monitor their department income and expenses.
