North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission <br />August 7, 2006 <br />Page Seven <br /> <br /> <br />believe how well Summer Camp went this summer as far as participants; he believed it went up 40% <br />from last year. <br /> <br />Ms. Jones asked what the different Enrichment Programs were. Mr. DiSalvo said that Jenny Couts, in <br />charge of the Enrichment Programs (which fall under anything that is not considered team sports) <br />include Summer Camp, Irish Step Dancing, Art Classes; Ms. Drenski continued with Reading <br />Fundamentals, Defense Classes for Kids called Rad Kids, Basic Exercise for the little children. There <br />is also a new Drawing Program – many aspects of it – such as Shopping Mall Camp where the children <br />came in and drew clothes, etc.; a different them for each Program such as a Teddy Bear Camp, <br />Cartooning; a Bead Class. Jenny will teach the Reading Fundamentals – she has a degree in teaching. <br />She’s already exceeded her budget this year, and the figures show through the end of July. <br /> <br />th <br />4 of July Picnic <br /> <br />It’s not on the Agenda, but to explain what happened with the Article in the West Life about someone <br />th <br />not knowing what they were doing with the 4 of July Picnic, in 2005, we prepared 300 hot dogs; we <br />threw away at least 50 of them in the dumpster. This year, we made 400; they were all gone. Mr. <br />Baxter said that the source must be considered. <br /> <br />Ms. Jones asked if there was enough candy and enough people to help out. Ms. Drenski said there <br />was enough candy and that there were enough people to help out. <br /> <br />REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES DIRECTOR <br /> <br />Employment as Community Life Services Director <br /> <br />Mr. Dailey said that, since he just took over July 1, 2006, he has nothing to report; other than that he <br />continues to work with Mr. DiSalvo and the good employees at City Hall, including Louise Kilbane <br />and Duane Limpert. He added he is not starting from scratch. Mr. DiSalvo said almost as soon as <br />Mr. Dailey came on board he was in on Recreation Department business because of the knowledge of <br />the change from the Safety Department. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Pavilion <br /> <br />Ms. Jones asked if there was electricity in the Pavilion; Mr. DiSalvo said it would definitely be in for <br />Homecoming.
