Minutes of a Meeting of
The North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
October 2, 2006
Page Three

a lot of skating and tennis revenues. The Commissioner reported that he knows that seems like a lot
of money, but that the Rec Department is on track to hit its budget.

Mr. Lasko asked if the Report was on the basis of the calendar year; Mr. DiSalvo said it was.

Mr. Baxter asked if the Budget was done on a monthly basis. The Commissioner said it wasn’t. It’s
hard to figure out prior months to prior months; the registration dates change every year. Mr. Baxter
said the only thing he was thinking about was that the Report shows the Revenues at 78%; that could
be very good and that could not be, depending on if the Revenue was forecast to come in later in the
year, there could be a lot more Revenue coming in during the last few months than the 22% lacking.
There is no way to know if 78% is good or not. Mr. DiSalvo responded by saying that, for the time he
has been with the Rec Center, between the fall and the winter, there is one more huge windfall coming
in with program registrations, and that would cover it. To be at 78%, typically, within the last three
years, the Rec Department is right on target with its revenue. There is not any significant drop off that
the Rec Department knows about, but the Commissioner understood what Mr. Baxter was saying.

Ms. Jones asked about the figures for Concessions. Mr. DiSalvo reminded her that Concessions was
open for half a year. The Rec Department fell about $5,000 short during that six-month period. Ms.
Jones asked who is taking care of Concessions now. The Commissioner said the Company changed its
name; it was the Dawg Pound Café. She dropped that name; Betsy Drenski believes that the
concessionaire picked one; Ms. Drenski believes the name is “Top Dog” but she does not believe that
is the concessionaire’s final choice. Ms. Jones asked how many people applied for the job. Mr.
DiSalvo said it was three companies. The schedule has been coinciding with the Rink; the
concessionaire is opening when it needs to be open, and the patrons are happy that it’s open. The
Recreation Department is getting $600.00 a month by contract. She’s doing a good job in this new
venture and is intent on finding people to help her.

Ms. Jones asked about the video games and how the Rec Department is generating revenue. Mr.
DiSalvo said that a few machines have been changed out and asked Ms. Drenski what she knew of the
situation. Ms. Drenski reported that the vendor had been looking for a particular machine to play a
football game. It has a metal place where the kids can put their feet, and Ms. Drenski told the vendor
the Rec Department could not have that, so the Commissioner covered the game. Mr. DiSalvo
reported that the vendor knows what is making money and what’s not, so he’s on top of the situation.
Page 3
