Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 11, 2006
Page Five

This concluded discussion on Rec Facility Management Software.

September 1, 2006 Follow-up Meeting

th
As a follow-up to Mr. DiSalvo’s Sub-Committee Report, a follow-up meeting to the August 17 Rec
Master Plan public meeting held on September 1, 2006 was attended by the Mayor, Thomas O’Grady,
Community Life Services Director John Dailey, Planning Director, Kim Wenger, Kerr/Boron
Consultant, Jeff Kerr, and himself. Right now the administration will explore the possibility of
regionalism and the feasibility of providing new recreation facilities at one of two proposed sights:
Springvale, and the current location of the Recreation Complex. This is the course that the
administration would like to pursue. It’s not written in stone, but that seems to be the course where
the Rec is headed: a new facility at Springvale or at the Rec Complex. Any questions?

Mr. Kelley said that he had no questions; only a comment. He had been in Athens, Ohio, which is in a
poor county in the State of Ohio. Regionally, they got together and built a new Rec Center – they had
a Speaker of the House from down there – and built with State funds. Perhaps a phone call here and
there might accomplish something. Otherwise, it will be taken care of with City funds.

Pavilion Cap Improvement

Mr. DiSalvo said that he will submit for cap improvements to get a new Pavilion built at North
Olmsted Park.

Financials

The Commissioner reported that there were no financials to include in the Minutes this month.

OLD BUSINESS

None

NEW BUSINESS

Broken Recreation Department Window

Ms. Jones asked what happened with the broken Rec Department window. Mr. DiSalvo said it
happened over Homecoming Window. There was a rock thrown through the window that landed at
the end of the room. There was glass everywhere. The window will be replaced this week.
Page 5
