Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
September 11, 2006
Page Six

City Truck After Hours

Mr. Barker said that he noticed a city truck coming up Walter Road on a Sunday night, and his wife
wondered what it was doing out at that time. He guessed it was the Rec Department checking Clague
Park. Mr. DiSalvo asked if it was a dump truck; Mr. Barker said it was. Mr. DiSalvo said that
garbage duty and locking up restrooms is done at Clague Park. Mr. DiSalvo asked what time it was.
Mr. Barker said it was about 6:30 or 7:00. Mr. DiSalvo asked if it was an orange truck, because
Service trucks are white now. He would check the schedule; there was a schedule change with the full
time people. Part-timers work Sunday, and he will find out.

Homecoming

Ms. Jones said she wanted to thank the Rec Department for the garbage pick-up during Homecoming.
Everything was kept quite clean. Ms. Jones said that Community Council made $10,010 from the
rides. Twenty five percent of sales are received under $30,000.

Pavilion

Ms. Jones said that there are lights in the Pavilion now. There are outlets now, and it lights up
beautifully. The floor was dirty for the Homecoming picnic, and she is looking forward to a clean-up
soon. Mr. DiSalvo said that people do not tell the Rec Department that the Pavilion or Gazebo is
dirty. Someone had a party or reunion at Little Clague with over 150 people, and the Rec Department
did not know anything about it. If it’s known, the Rec Department can accommodate everyone. Ms.
Jones said she would remind the Commissioner next year about the floor of the Pavilion but that
everyone should go try the lights there; they are really impressive.

Mr. Barker asked if the Pavilion or Little Clague could be reserved or booked through someone. Mr.
DiSalvo said that no, it was for public use and couldn’t be reserved. Mr. Barker said that if it’s
reserved, the Rec Department could send someone out in advance and asked why 150 people were not
known about. Mr. DiSalvo said when it happens on a weekend and people just want to get together,
there is nothing that can stop them and the Rec Department is unaware of what happens.

Dumpster for Homecoming

Ms. Jones asked who does the dumpster for Homecoming – the City or the Rec Center. Mr. DiSalvo
said that the Rec Center does not do the dumpster. Ms. Jones said that the City must do it then. Mr.
DiSalvo said that last year Community Council paid for the dumpster. Ms. Jones said that she knew
Community Council paid for the toilets. Mr. DiSalvo said, for example, the golf cart for Springvale
was in Halleen Chevy for three weeks after the NOSO tournament. No one knew where the golf cart
was. From that point, the Commissioner said, he would not take responsibility if someone else is
Page 6
