Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
February 4, 2008

Ice Rink – Closing Policy

Mr. Garrity noted that it would be nice this year if NOHC knew for certain that the Rink would be
open next year. Ms. Drenski asked where Mr. Garrity would like this noted: he said to put it on one
of the doors; that is where other advertising is now. Mr. Dailey agreed. Mr. DiSalvo said he wanted
to address the inclement weather policy for a moment. The only thing that is missing out of that
equation is that if the schools are closed due to inclement weather that’s preventing employees to
come to work at the Rec Department, the Rec Department will follow suit.

Mr. DiSalvo said that there is always room for improvement as far as policy is concerned, but
something must be in place.

Management staff and maintenance staff will be in, but part-time staff will not be required to be in. If
there is a safety concern, the Rec Center will be closed. This will be a rare occurrence.

Mr. Garrity noted that if there is a cancellation of one of the NOHC games, there is a cancellation fee
of $100.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY 14, 2007

Before Mr. Groden moved on to the approval of minutes, he wanted to formally recognize the newest
member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Julie Nader, whom he and Mr. Dailey both
welcomed.

Mr. Groden asked for a Motion to approve the Minutes of January 14, 2007. After noting a change in
the minutes on the top of page seven, with reference to the pool filter cost of $37,000 (a comment
from Mr. Dailey), the word “rip” should be changed to “risk.” This was duly noted and initialed in the
Final Minutes by Mr. Groden. After Motion duly made and seconded, the Minutes of January 14,
2007 passed unanimously, with the one amendment.

SUB COMMITTEE REPORTS

None

REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER

Income Statement 07/08 Comparison

Mr. DiSalvo reported that because the Rec Budget has not yet been approved and/or adopted, his
projections were not yet available ate this time. He did say that the only thing he could prepare was
the January 2007 Actual Monthly Revenue to January of 2008. Without knowing the actual budget,
the Commissioner was not equipped to give the Commission much of a report at this time. However,
Page 3
