Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
March 3, 2008

John (Dailey) asked Mr. DiSalvo to check with the Safety Department, who issues snow ban warnings
only, in effect with as little as two inches of snow. They never issue traveler warnings or advisories.
It’s just common sense. Mr. Dailey said that initially the City was trying to be consistent with the
Senior Center: they are closed when the schools are closed. In execution, it doesn’t work out quite as
well as we thought it could.

Mr. DiSalvo asked if there were any questions on the proposed Complex Closing/Event Cancellation
Policy.

Mr. Groden looked for a Motion from the floor. Mr. Mahoney made a Motion to adopt the North
Olmsted Rec Department Complex Closing and Program Event Cancellation Policy on behalf of the
Rec Commission. Upon second, all were in favor, and the Motion passed unanimously.

This concluded the Report of the Recreation Commissioner.

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES DIRECTOR

Ball Field Renovations

Mr. Dailey reported that the ball field renovations were approved by City Council. We are going to
waive the fees again for the permits and the prep fees in exchange for the bulk of the renovation. I
assume Hot Stove moved forward with this. We let them know immediately, so Little Clague Park
will soon be up and running this year.

Mr. Scarl is hoping for an end of March beginning by Hot Stove, assuming the weather complies. Mr.
Dailey said that Mr. DiSalvo and he had email conversations regarding getting the ball fields ready for
the high school season: softball and fast pitch hardball. We are making sure the bleachers are ready to
go; a Port-a-Potty ready if need be; and make sure the fields are prepped up and ready. Sometimes
they sneak up on us; here we see the calendar turning March; we want to be ahead of the curve, rather
than behind it. We’ll be making contact with the schools to make sure we know the dates when their
practices start and/or games.

ADA Family Restrooms

In addition, Mr. Dailey said, we will have the ADA family restrooms open and ready to go. This way,
if there are games which will be cold in early spring, there will be a place for people with kids to go
where it’s warm and not just using a Port-a-Potty.

Rec Committee

As indicated, the Recreation Committee approved last week accepting donations for the skate board
ramps; it will be on second reading tomorrow night as Mr. Mahoney indicated. Mr. Mahoney said he
will make a Motion to Suspend anyway to get things going a little faster; there’s no reason not to. He
Page 6
