Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
May 5, 2008

REPORT OF THE RECREATION COMMISSIONER

Financial Statements

Ms. Drenski reported on the April Revenue and Expense Reports.

Revenue Report

Ms. Drenski said that she had a “cheat sheet” from Mr. DiSalvo on the percentages of how the
projection came about. The projection for each month is based on the last two years’ averaged
revenue. She asked if there were any questions; she thought it was fairly in line but thought it was hard
to explain; the Rink was up this month over the projected but way down last month, so it’s still
fluctuating a bit. Mr. Dailey asked if she was still down about 10,000 for the year. Ms. Drenski said
she was not down, just 10,000 shy of what she should be at a much higher budget. Her actual budget
came in at 385,000 in 2007, but her projected is 414,000 for 2008, which is a huge swing. She’s
already had some setbacks with the weather. Spring registration was moved back a month so,
hopefully with the summer yet to come, that 10,000 can be decreased, but it’s a big number to move
up from last year. Mr. Dailey said we want a hot summer to bring the kids indoors.

Mr. Baxter asked why Tennis was down so much. Ms. Drenski did not have a direct answer for that
but would ask Pat (Cunningham) and let the Commission know.

Ms. Drenski could not explain the “n/a” projections for Gymnastics but would find out and let the
Commission know. Mr. Groden asked Ms. Drenski if these numbers weren’t something that the
Commission should have before the next meeting. Mr. Dailey said they can be sent out. Ms. Drenski
noted that, for some reason, the Commissioner did not do Karrie Tipton’s figures, although he did
everyone else’s, but not hers. Mr. Dailey said that, whatever the answer is, he would get it.

This concluded the Revenue Report.

Expense Report

Ms. Drenski noted that Gymnastics was high; they are already at 50%, but Karrie (Tipton) does not
have that much summer programming compared to what she has in the spring and fall.

Spring Ice Show

ththth
The Spring Ice Show is the 16, 17 and 18 of May coming up. It’s going to be good. The kids are
really working hard on it, and usually Betsy mails the tickets to the Commission with a nice letter, but
this year, she just gave them tonight to the members of the Commission. Hope you can all make it.
It’s really quite a production when it all comes together.
Page 2
