Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Parks and Recreation Commission
January 5, 2009

North Olmsted kid that did well for Ignatius – Ryan Hoyt – he went through the North Olmsted
Schools as well. Mr. Dailey said it’s nice that the kids are doing well.

Painting in the Rec Center

Mr. Dailey said that he’s sure everyone’s noticed the painting being done at the Rec Center. The
Commissioner and Mr. Dailey spoke last week about the matter. The rink walls will be painted as well
now – where it’s blue now, it will be white; then there will be a few rows of orange and black to make
it more North Olmsted Eagles friendly. Ms. Nader asked if there would be anyone from the High
School to put an Eagle on the wall. Mr. Dailey said the City will put it out there for consideration.

The reception area and hallways by the rink will also be painted. Sherwin Williams is being consulted
about the paints.

A Shed

Mr. Dailey said there is a young lady who wants to tear down the volleyball shed in the park, save the
pad and rebuild a shed around it…the original shed, it was said, is a Rubbermaid shed with no shed.
Mr. DiSalvo said she needs a pad. Mr. Dailey said he would touch base with her parents tomorrow on
that matter; he just got a phone call about it today.

Hot Stove Agreement

th
Legislation will be going forward January 20 on the Hot Stove Agreement. Mr. Groden asked if the
Hot Stove proposal will go through all three readings, given there’s still plenty of time? Mr. Dailey
said yes, if necessary; perhaps it will just be first reading and Committee meeting. Mr. Mahoney said it
could be like last year: suspended on second meeting.

Tom Stein’s Retirement

Tom Stein’s official last day was December 31, 2008. Actually, he was gone about a week prior with
accumulated sick time. Mr. DiSalvo and Mr. Dailey took his keys and thanked him for his good
service. So far, Ted is having good success since he’s been gone with in-house help.

Janitorial Services

th
The contract for janitorial services will expire on January 9. We cancelled their contract as you may
recall because we were not happy with the services they were providing. We are considering going
out for some minor help with janitorial services; it may be the main rooms every day, such as the
locker rooms. The maintenance crew will pick up the rest of it.
Page 5
