Minutes of a Meeting of the
North Olmsted Recreation Commission
March 2, 2009

REPORT OF THE COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICES DIRECTOR

Painting in the Rec Center

th
Mr. Dailey told Ms. Powell the Rec Center is having someone coming out next Monday, the 10 of
March, from Sherwin Williams to go over painting options for the front lobby by the ticket booth and
going down the hallway down by Tennis. He did not think that Concessions would be handled and the
warming area beside the Rink. In addition, we will be painting inside the rink area. There will be
some white, orange and black in that area for North Olmsted colors. He did not know if it would be
bleachers first or the walls. We want it to look good for the North Olmsted schools, since they use it
the most.

Janitorial Services

In 2008, janitorial services with the previous vendor were terminated. The Rec was paying about
$3,500 a month for what they were doing. Ted, in working with his staff, is seeing what the crew can
handle and not handle on a regular basis. There will be a purchase order with another vendor,
Coverall Cleaning Solutions. It will be about $995 per month. The company will help us maintain the
showers and heavy traffic areas a lot better. It’s a third of the cost than what’s been done in the past,
and we’ll get just as much done as we need to do.

Barton/Bradley Park Project

The Barton/Bradley Park Project had the grant awarded for $25,600. The City will be using that
money in addition to the other cap outlay money for this year and, hopefully some other donated
funds, to get the Barton/Bradley Park Project completed. The City is waiting to get the completed
contract from the State of Ohio, we can go out to bid for the entire project. We should have it ready
by June.

This concluded the Report of the Community Life Services Director.

Mr. Mahoney had a question for Mr. Dailey: Mr. Mahoney was approached by one of the officials of
NOSO. He wants to donate a shed and have it put up at the Barton/Bradley soccer fields. He didn’t
get into specifics. He asked if there was any specific protocol before a shed was placed. Mr. Dailey
said it will have to be placed before the Building Department, and there will be a permit fee.

Mr. Scarl noted that he hopes it’s not a Rubbermaid shed, because vandals will just destroy it; the shed
must be more substantial than that.

Mr. Mahoney had another question on a similar subject: another person from NOSO approached him
and asked how he would go about getting an estimate for paving parking lots there. He indicated that
he wanted to pave not right up along the fence but the little strip across the street and on the other
side
Page 5
