Ordinance Amendments Cont.:

Ted: Right now our current rate is set too low and we are at the higher end right now. Norman: How long is
the rental, two hours three hours? Ted: On an hour basis and then we even have it broken down into lanes.
Julie: So you are saying between $85.00 and $125.00 an hour that it depends on the time of day? Ted: That is a
flat rate. Kim: So how do you decide within that range? Ted: Going back on past ordinance ranges that
$125.00 per hour rate will probably never happen for a least another seven to ten years. We have to go up
incrementally, typically we go up if we need to from three to five percent but five percent is pushing it. So it is
just to go up gradually, I would never in two years all of a sudden go up to $125.00 no one would ever rent it
out. Norman: So a Pool Group rental $72.00 is the most you can charge. Ted: It is the most and it is also not
enough for our operations as well. Norman: So you have to move up to at least $85.00. Ted: Yes. We give at
least a four month notice to our renters that the rates are going to go up. Every time we have a rate increase
even with advance notice we still get heat from it. Even if this ordinance passes next month we would still give
notice to everyone that is renting. It is mainly Bay, Fairview and Olmsted Falls who rent our pool so we would
give them plenty of notice because it will impact them as well. Norm: So do you mean that the Summer Camp
rate is going to up as much as it is showing on here? Are you going to go from $200.00 to $575.00? Ted: In
the past that is billed out every five weeks it’s a ten week program. So if you double it you are actually going
from $400.00 to $575.00. Norm: So you are comparing a one week to a two week, is that what you are saying?
Ted: Instead of charging two five week periods now it’s just a one ten week period. Norm: I hear you except
does it tell you that? Ted: No. Norm: It does make a difference when you are looking at the schedule if you
don’t know that. Otherwise it looks like you are almost tripling the rate. Julie: And when would these rates go
into effect? Ted: This will probably take three readings so I’m guessing by April, mid April. Kevin: Based on
passage nothing would change for at least four months? Ted: Right. For fall programming these prices would be
in effect easily. The summer brochure is already at the printer, so fall and winter that is when pricing would take
effect. Julie: So the Hockey time prime time you have $125.00 to $234.00 an hour, and you are going from
$145.00 to $250.00 an hour so you are within range of that $235.00. You anticipate increases and you want to
make sure you are covered. Ted: Right. We are submitting that early and it is easier to do this with one shot
then continuously to do this year after year with different cost centers and departments submitting something.
Julie: So what are we charging for prime time? Ted: That’s $145.00 the non-primetime did not change at all.
And the Studio Rink is only $46.00 right now and we are well within that because the old range was $35.00 to
$72.00 and we want to change it to $42.00 to $100.00, again this is just planning. Aside from Summer Camp
and the Pool all others the pricing is going to stay exactly the same. Julie: So essentially what you are doing is
asking for is leeway in the ordinance to increase prices thought going back changing a Hockey $5.00 next year
but you have leeway up to $250.00. Ted: We will never get that high there is not way unless we got two sheets
and became a hockey Mecca overnight, there is no way we would ever charge $250.00. Kim: Where do you
keep your current rate information so that people want to rent ice or pool for a particular time would know
where to find that? Ted: It’s on the web site, in the program it’s in Rec. Trac and flyers at the Front Desk.
Kim: So it’s not like people won’t know what the rate is. Ted: No, with our contact list in Rec. Trac we would
contact them and they will see plenty of warning. Kim: So they will have a place that they can look and see
what the price is. Ted: Yes, like it is right now. And on all our flyers we have “prices subject to change” but we
never change that without giving notice. Norm: One more question, Summer Camp you have two session, two
five week periods and then you get rid of that and then you just have one session. Ted: Right. Norm: Do some
people just do one session or do they do both sessions? Ted: The majority do the ten week session. Last year
we were limited to 150 and some people quit so it is a lot easier to do the one time ten week, either you’re in or
you’re out. It helps with staffing as well. So I will include a list of our current pricing in a column right next to
the current resident rates and non resident as well. Julie: Do you anticipate the Pool pricing going up that we
would loose participants because of the increased price?

Page 6
