Recreation Commission Meeting
December 1, 2003

by heating much larger quantities of water and there was a slower recovery. It is also much more
expensive to buy a boiler than to buy the 250 gallon hot water tanks. With the fuel consumption
measurements and with the replacement costs, it’s a better deal to buy the hot water tanks than
the boiler.

Mr. DiSalvo continued by saying that there are electrical panels that need replacing, originally
priced at $16,000, now priced at $11,000.

ndth
The bleachers start installation on December 2 and expect to be finished by December 5.

The above major items will be handled this year. Next year, there will be income for the
basketball courts and a Zamboni, which will be the two major expenses for 2004. Ideally, the
Zamboni will be filled with 300 gallons of warm to hot water, so the Zamboni will have its own
water source. A reconditioned Zamboni will cost about $25,000 to $29,000. A new one would
cost about $65,000. The idea in having two Zambonies is to alternate usage of each for maximum
utility. Mr. Gareau asked if Mr. DiSalvo would be borrowing to get the Zamboni. Mr. DiSalvo
replied no, that the funds are available.

The Commissioner reported that there are new tables and chairs in the concession area, making
the area look much better. Mr. Jesse said that the ceiling tiles are scheduled to be cleaned
ultrasonically, testing a small 10x10 area with this dry system.

Nursery

The Nursery will not be in existence any longer; it will be divided into two, possibly three, family
changing rooms. Ms. Jones said that she recalled Mr. DiSalvo previously said he would make the
nursery the ticket booth reception area. Mr. DiSalvo said that part two of his plan is to
reconfigure the reception area to make it more open, user friendly, and easily accessible to the
public, having one-way traffic flow instead of two. Basically, it would mean putting a reception
desk in front of the ticket booth and make the ticket booth look like an office rather than a guard
gate.

Baby Changing Areas

Upon inquiry from Mr. Gareau, the Commissioner responded that there are baby changing areas
in the two new bathrooms. He also indicated that he has noticed an increase in family usage of
the facility over the past few months.

North Olmsted Park/Clague Park

Mr. Gareau then said there are two issues he wanted to discuss. The first was what was to be
done with the extra funds available for the North Olmsted Park. There is still money for
Page 3
