Recreation Commission Meeting
May 5, 2003

outlined ideas as to what he wanted to do for the City. Angelina's gets a percentage of his net.
There is not a lot of volume in the concessions because he does not have the concession at the
Rec Center. He has the concessions at the Parks, and he’s really interested in doing the
concessions on the weekends only. Mr. Jesse would not divulge numbers until after the bids are
over on Friday but, after that, information would be given to the Members, and a special meeting
or phone call roll will take place to approve or not, since the City is running out of time. Had
there been other bidders, there may have been a more timely decision. Angelina’s prices were
definitely affordable. There was discussion among the Commission Members that it would be
better for Angelina’s to work the Parks during the weekday evenings rather than the weekends,
when there is little traffic. In any event, whoever gets the bid must be made aware of the fact
that there is better volume during the week. Mr. Baxter pointed out that, unless a mother brings
kids who might want the pizza, chances are the adult players at the parks are going to restaurants
after the games, his point being taken by Messrs. DiSalvo and Jesse.

This concluded the report of the Safety Director.

There was general discussion among the Members about Springvale after its renovation and its
positive effects for the City of North Olmsted, from its instructors to the course itself.

SUB-COMMITTEE REPORT

Mr. Gareau did not know if there were any sub-committees during the course of the Recreation
Commission Meetings but suggested that Claire Hayes, as the longest-standing member, be asked
this question. Mr. Jesse suggested keeping the sub-committee report as an agenda item, and sees
sub-committees being formed in the near future, such as community surveys or specific, one-time
issues.

There being no further questions, the Commission moved on to Old Business.

OLD BUSINESS

Basketball Courts

The issue of basketball and tennis courts was handled at the Rec Committee meeting some time
back, reported Mr. Gareau. Mr. DiSalvo was asked to bring the Commission up to date on
basketball courts. Mr. DiSalvo reported that the specs are in the process of being completed, at
which time the matter will go to bid. The bid will be placed by late summer or early fall IF the
priority is in the money related to North Olmsted Park. That money came out of a Committee
Meeting. There may be crack repair and depression fill money needed for the basketball courts.
This money ties in with the money for the second issue:
Page 7
