Recreation Commission Meeting
November 3, 2003

Betsy Drenski
Rink Supervisor

Attached hereto find the Commissioner's outline of the Rink Supervisor's responsibilities. Those
in bold and italicized are the duties Ms. Drenski would give up. What is in bold in regular print
are the additional duties. Jeff Marshall is running learn to skate, but he's a contract employee.
Currently, Ms. Drenski is handling registration, USFSA, Refunds/gift certificates and
administrative tasks. Jeff Marshall handles the class instruction, coaches the Cleveland Edges and
Hockey School as such. With Ms. Drenski relinquishing that, she would still continue to staff the
skate guards, but the learn to skate would be more with skate rental and skating instructors. She
must give up some of the skating instructor staff responsibilities, but she would still maintain
coordination of rental groups with the North Olmsted Hockey Club, Cleveland Edges, Blues
Hockey Team, Playmaker and the Varsity Hockey Team.

Administratively, Ms. Drenski is involved in attending meetings in the absence of the
Commissioner. The biggest item in this section is

J. - "Assume responsiiblity for departmental operation in the absence of the Commissioner and to
assist with direction and implementation of all income programs and services." With 2004
coming soon, there is no way the Commissioner can do all the research by himself. With Ms.
Drenski's grip on the programming, and Sandra Andrews handling of Aquatics, Betsy has gone
into other areas, e.g., helping with the adult programs, special events, Friday Night DJ Skates,
etc.

See K. "Assist the commissioner with re-establishing full servicing of the Recreation Complex and
Parks Coke vending machine operations." At the present time, Coke stocks the machines. The
amount of income the Rec is losing on this matter by not stocking is high.

L. - "Assist the Commissioner with budget preparation, maintenance priorities, Capital
Improvements, staffing of programs by qualified supervisory personnel and other administration
functions."

M. ' Make recommendations and works with the Commissioner on the development and
implementation of department fees and policies."

At this point, Randi Jones joined the meeting.

"N. Additional supervision exercised: Concession Supervisor." This is another area the
Commissioner will review later. .

"O. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Commissioner."
Page 5
