Recreation Commission Meeting
November 3, 2003

This concluded the report of the Recreation Commissioner.

REPORT BY SAFETY DIRECTOR

N/A

NEW BUSINESS

Article in Sun Herald Dated October 30, 2003

Mr. DiSalvo said that, from what he understood, the remarks by Mr. McKay (see article attached)
were made in jest. The article does not really reflect what happened. One cannot always believe
what's in the paper. It was taken out of context.

Frisbee Golf

Ms. Jones gave Mr. DiSalvo an article on Frisbee Golf (talk among the members about kickball).
The Commissioner thinks it will be great fun for the Rec Center.

OLD BUSINESS

Mr. Baxter talked again about addressing the nature area at the Park; name tags for the trees, etc.
Mr. DiSalvo said he would look into the matter. Another point Mr. Baxter brought up was new
play equipment for the children. The safety zone is to be upgraded. Mr. DiSalvo said that the
Rec wants North Olmsted Park to look like Clague Park. The money is available for this under
Park Improvements and is encumbered for next year. Mr. Baxter said that the Park should not be
used solely for ball fields.

VISITORS' OPPORTUNITY TO ADDRESS COMMISSION

At this time the representatives from NOSO addressed the Commission members. NOTE: since
the voices and names of each member cannot be identified, the generic "NOSO member" will be
used for purposes of these minutes, unless a spokesman is clarified.

Background

Dave Saunders, President, first spoke on behalf of NOSO. By way of background information, he
provided a three page document, attached. The organization will be 30 years old next year and
th
celebrated its 25 anniversary for the NOSO cup last year. It's an international tournament with a
very large following. Mr. Saunders' question was: if money wasn't an object, what would be
done to improve the fields; to be on par with other soccer fields in excellent condition in other

areas of the state? Since Barton Bradley is our home, there's no place for NOSO to go.
Page 7
