PARKS CONT.:

Concerning the soccer kick wall at Barton and Bradley Park there is a resident that would like
the wall to come down however, the soccer organization does not agree with that.

Mr. Scarl asked if the City approved the installation of the wall. Mr. Wetmore stated that
the conversation that took place with NOSO is that they wanted to replace the existing wall,
which made us believe that it would stay in the same location, they moved it and the old
wall had been rebuilt. Ms. Drenski replied that plans and permits for the new wall were
not submitted. The new wall went up without notification and then we started to receive
complaints, there are currently three kick walls at the park.

Mr. Scarl noted that concerning North Olmsted Park, at one time Hot Stove wanted to install a
permanent fence and the residents complained and therefore they did not install it. NOSO should
have gone to City Hall to obtain a permit then have a meeting with the residents for approval
prior to installing the wall.

Mr. Wetmore stated the resolution is to take down the wall and relocate it however, NOSO states
there is no other suitable location. Mr. Ruggles said he did look at the wall and agrees that it is
noticeable and suggested that it could be painted the color of grass to blend in. Mr. Clancy asked
if the wall was in fact needed. Ms. Drenski stated that she has visited other parks and did not see
any and therefore believes it is not essential to have one. Mr. Ruggles mentioned that the wall is
used so the kids do not have to chase after the ball, a goal would work just as well, and there is
no real need for the wall. Mr. Kearney asked if it could be moved across the street. Ms. Drenski
replied that they are currently trying to expand parking so there would be no room.

Mr. Wetmore noted that the wall would stay up until the end of the season, which is the first
week of June. We will then have ample time to find a suitable area to place it for next season.
We are not trying to take anything away from the soccer club but we do want to make sure we
are doing the right thing for everybody involved. Mr. Garrity emphasized the need to follow
proper procedures that will involve City Council when a new location is located.

REVENUE / EXPENSE – APRIL 2011

Ms. Drenski stated that overall revenue is up. Even though we had a good turnout for spring
learn to swim, the pool revenue is down. We are looking with each season to see what did not
work the prior year and are currently making changes, the pool revenue will get better but it is
a slow process.

Ms. Figueira added a preschool program recently and we found a need to add another one due
to its success. For the fall we will need to create a program for the children who have completed
parent and tot but are too young for the next level. By adding the new programs patrons will no
longer need the YMCA program.
