CIVIL SERVICE MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 18, 1993
PAGE 3
Ron Wilamosky - said the Commission's rules state that when a test is
voided. The candidates have the choice of maintaining the score that
they originally received or can re -take the test. You may find that
the majority of candidates would not want to re -take the test. If the
test is voided it should be voided completely. Also, the candidates
were not sure on how many errors they could make before taking the
test.
Ron Janetzke - these jobs in the city are computer jobs. Sandra has
never used a typewriter while she was employed only computers.
Mike Gareau - asked if a test could be given with typing speed and
data entry.
Mr. Gundy - I feel that this might be a fair way to do it.
Ronald Janetzke - said that these jobs are not data entry. You take
raw data and you put them on the forms and design it.
Jim Hines & Commission - said we will re -test the typing portion.
The Commission will attend.
AT THIS POINT, THE UNION REPRESENTATIVES, HOLLY KISH AND SANDRA STUART
MET PRIVATELY.
Ronald Janetzke - If we look at another test. Will this test be a
test of numbers or a test of letter typing?
Jim Hines - I think this test will be your standard typing test of
letters.
Ronald Janetzke - Holly Kish has never typed a letter since she has
been employed with the city.
Glenn Marks - If the girls pass this -test, then these girls are
eligibility to take other employment within the city. If at some time
they change jobs and they:can not type then they are not qualified.
If they could type 45 wpm then they are not restricted to remain it
that one job.
Jim Hines - based on the job description that we received, we must
test at 45 wpm. Maybe in the future we can rank candidates from their
typing scores along with their written test but we are unable to do it
at this time.
