RULE V <br />EXTRA POINT CREDIT <br />ENTRY-LEVEL APPLICANTS <br />Section 1: Military Service Credit as Delineated Below: <br />a. All written requests for additional credit for military service supported by a copy of an <br />Honorable Discharge (DD214) or other proof of satisfactory service shall be subnutted to <br />the Commission along with the application for the Entry -Level examination. Such service <br />credit will not be granted to persons failing to comply with this requirement. <br />Credit for military service shall be awarded as extra points to be added to the applicant's <br />earned grade in the following manner; 1/2 point for each 6 month's military service with a <br />maximum of 3 points being allowed. <br />Such credit shall not be a part of, but shall be a credit to be added to the Entry -Level <br />applicant's earned grade resulting from the competitive examination, provided that the <br />applicant receives a passing grade in the competitive examination. If the competitive <br />examination consists of more than one component i.e. the Building Inspector examination, <br />credit will not be added to the applicant's score on the written portion of the examination <br />alone, but only after completion of all portions of the examination process. <br />Section 2: Maximum Allowable Credit Police Applicants: <br />Entry -Level police officer applicants may obtain military credit in accordance with RULE <br />V, Section 1. In addition, Entry -Level police officer applicants may receive additional <br />educational point credit in accordance with the following scale: <br />Four year college degree in criminal justice/law enforcement equals three points. <br />Four year college degree in any other field equals two points. <br />Two year college degree in criminal justice/law enforcement equals two points. <br />Any two year college degree equals one point. <br />a. All Entry -Level Police Department applicants requesting any such educational extra point <br />credits shall be required to submit a copy of their diploma of graduation along with the <br />application for the Entry -Level examination. Such educational credit shall not be ranted to <br />persons failing to comply with this requirement. <br />b. Police Department applicants may be granted no more than an aggregate total of five (5) <br />combined extra credit points for meeting military and educational criteria. <br />Section 3: Maximum Allowable Credit Firefighter Applicants: <br />a. Entry -Level Firefighter Paramedic applicants may obtain military credit in accordance <br />with RULE V, Section 1. <br />05-24-2004 Update <br />11 <br />
