one hundred eighty two (18 2) were returned; eleven (11) applications were rejected; one hundred
seventy one (171) applicants were scheduled to take the examination; twenty five (25) failed to
appear; one hundred forty six (146) participated; one hundred thirteen (113) passed; and so far fifty
six (56) have submitted agility certifications. Per the rules, a letter dated November 16, 2010 will
be sent to all applicants. The passing applicants will receive notification in their letters regarding the
ninety (90) day window to submit agility certifications.
Mr. Ubaldi made a motion that the Civil Service Commission create an Entry -Level Patrol
Officer Eligible List to expire on November 15, 2012 for the position of Patrol Officer. Mr.
Barrett seconded the motion and unanimously approved.
Additionally, Mr. Ubaldi moved that letters are sent out to the applicants who took the test
indicating their scores; if they passed, informing them of their rank and if they do not have
their agility certification informing them of the ninety (90) day window that they are allowed
to submit to the Commission their certification. Mr. Barrett seconded the motion and
unanimously approved.
A discussion commenced regarding vacancies of Patrol Officers and the organizational charts for
the Safety Division of Police approved by City Council. The City currently has one (1) Captain,
four (4) Lieutenants, six (6) Sergeants, and thirty three (33) Patrol Officers. If there is no need to
fill a vacancy then the Commission will not certify a name. However, if the need arises, the Safety
Department would have an eligible list that the administration could tap if the appointing authority
determines that there is a need.
Approve 2011 Calendar
The 2011 calendar dates have been adjusted for January and February due to Martin Luther King Jr.
and Presidents Day. A recommendation was made regarding a time change for the meetings. The
time changed to 7:30 pm due to Mr, Hohman's schedule and would like to revert back to the 7:00
pm time. A general discussion commenced regarding earlier times and the conclusion is to change
the meeting time to 7:00 pm.
Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to accept the 2011 Calendar as submitted but to amend the time
from 7:30 pm to 7:00 pm starting in January, 2011. Mr. Barrett seconded the motion and
unanimously approved.
Reschedule December meeting
The regular December's meeting will need to be rescheduled to December 13t" due to the
secretary's unavailability. Also, the time was discussed.
Mr. Ubaldi made a motion to change the Commission's regular December meeting to
Monday, December 1P at 7:00 pm. Mr. Barrett seconded the motion and unanimously
approved.
