ADMINISTRATION REQUESTS <br />Chapter 1115 Definitions <br />1115.02 Definitions Modification of the Definition of APARTMEN'1 <br />Chapter 1137 Multiple Residence(Apartment) District <br />1137.112 Permitted Uses (Townhomes) <br />Mr. Upton requested that the administration request be heard prior to the referral from counsel <br />Mt . t fbill introduced Mr. Peter (means. market leader Rrr Colliers. it real estate hrokeraee firm. <br />and it specialist in the multi-lamily real estate market Mr. I pton captained that he kkould like to <br />Update the definition of Apartment than is currently in the codified ordinance, I le described the <br />current sn%le of apartments in the Cih of North Ulmsted and noted that the% are the « pical <br />eardcn-stole apartments, that are stacked on top of one another. with it shared corridor. %Pith <br />hook the current code reads there is not a we,% to build a different type ofrental housing. Director <br />t'pton sated Ihar he rek iewred nearby west shore suburbs codes that include other descriptions of <br />the definition apartment. Ile believes the following definition incorporates the different stoles or <br />an apartment. Apartment means a multi -family dkkclline comprised offlus" (3) or more dwell in" <br />units arranged side no side and ' or (tire abo%c the other_ and each having a separate entrance or <br />entrances connected to a common outside entrance or entrances. Mr. U'Malle_e advised that the <br />Plannine and Design commission is authorized to inake a recommendation to t_% council. II in <br />something that the PIanniore Commission kwuld like to he considered b% c(tunci1. then the board <br />would recommend to council which includes leeislation and then the definitions would come <br />back no the Plannine commission in a more detailed lonnat. <br />Mr. Grealis explained that currently. housing is becoming Ices and Tess affordahle Ior most people <br />in this countrt. lie noted that we are sccina appreciation in the Civ, orNorth Olmsted which is <br />fantastic for property owners. but in the same time it is hecomine m(' ire difficult bor indit duals to <br />Purchase homes. lie commented that people desire to like in new construction smule famih <br />homes.
