The next promotional Police Sergeant examination is scheduled for May 13. 2023 for the written and the top 6 candidates will move on to the oral assessment in June. The deadline to submit the letters of intent is March 27, 2023. To date there are ten (10) affirmatives and four (4) noes. The results for the Promotional Police Sergeant written examination will be the week of May 15`h. The Civil Service Secretary requested to the Commission to cancel the regular meeting of May 15, 2023 and schedule a special meeting for May 22, 2023 to certify the written results. Motion by Commissioner Cotofan, seconded by Commissioner Fratini to cancel the regular meeting of May 15, 2023 and to hold a special meeting May 22. 203. Motion passed unanimously. Promotional Police Lieutenant Ranking List Police Sergeant Daniel Barrett has been promoted to Police Lieutenant on March 7, 2023. General discussion commenced regarding the life expectancy of the promotional ranking list; tests are timely- and expensive; historically the lists are good for two (2) years, no distinction of duration for the Entry -Level lists and Promotional lists; rule changes; current Police Lieutenant Promotional Ranking List duration. Motion by Commissioner Cotofan, seconded by Commissioner Fratini to uphold the termination date of February 27, 2024 for the Police Lieutenant Promotional Ranking List. Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Flannery, seconded by Commissioner Cotofan to adopt the amendments to Rule VII, Eligible List, Section 5, Duration of Eligible Lists, a) Promotional Lists to read as follows: "The term of each Promotional list and the names of the applicants thereon shall be fixed by the Commission, and shall be for a period of not more than two (2) years." Motion passed unanimously. Motion by Commissioner Flannery, seconded by Commissioner Fratini to adopt the amendments to Rule VII, Eligible List, Section 5, Duration of Eligible Lists, b) Entry -Level and Lateral Transfer Eligible Lists as follows: "The term of each Entry -Level and Lateral list and the names of the applicants thereon shall be fixed by the Commission, and shall be for a period of not more than one (1) year. Any Entry -Level or Lateral Transfer lists that has been in existence for more than six (6) months or contains fewer than fourteen (14) names may, at the discretion of the Commission and when deemed to be in the public interest, be revoked at any time. The Commission may, in its discretion, at the request of the appointing authority, certify names from the Lateral Transfer eligible list in lieu of the Entry -Level eligible list for single vacancy due to the age of an Entry - Level eligible list, the frequency of certification therefrom, or the number of candidates." Motion passed unanimously. Police Officer Entry -Level Eligible List Discussion commenced regarding the candidates on the Police Officer Entry -Level Eligible List. Motion by Commissioner Cotofan, seconded by Commissioner Fratini to remove original rank #3 and original rank #33 due to voluntary removals. Motion passed unanimously.
