I . A 60 sq. ft. variance for the size of a storage building: code allows 100 sq. ft.; applicant
shows 160 sq. ft., Section 1135.02(C)(2).
Note: Shed is 10 ft. x 16 ft. x 11 ft. high.
Lot is 7,200 sq. ft.
2. A 2 ft. variance for distance of an accessory structure to rear lot line; applicant shows 3
ft., code permits 5 ft. Section 1135.02(C)(5)
3. A 2 ft. variance for distance of an accessory structure to side lot line; applicant shows 3
ft., code permits 5 ft. Section 1135.02(C)(5)
Representative: Larry Yelko, 5582 Burns Road
Mr. Yelko explained he was taking down the other shed, and the area where he was to place his
new shed is near his 6ft fence with a garage on the other size. He also stated his lot size was
within the allowable size for the size of the shed. Mr. Mackey asked if there were any easements
or utilities in that area of the yard. Mr. Yelko stated no. Mr. Kovach asked the applicant why he
needed this shed. Applicant replied he only had a crawl space and he needed something bigger.
Mr. Papotto asked Ms. Seeley if the lot size was in the allowable limits, she stated it was.
Mr. Rahm moved; seconded by Mr. Kovach; to approve 23-24059; Larry Yelko-5582 Burns
Road.
Board members discussed and all were in agreement regarding the need for the extra space.
Motion Passed; 5-0
23-24062; Scott Springer -3936 Walter Road
Proposal to put mesh on a split rail fence. Property is zoned B -One Family Residence.
The following variance is requested:
1. A variance to add 14 -gauge wire to a post and rail fence, code does not permit; applicant
shows 14 -gauge wire to a post and rail fence, Section 1369.02
Representative: Scott Springer 3936 Walter Road
Mr. Springer explained the fence was to block off the woods in the back and the wire was to
keep his dog in his yard. Mr. Papotto asked for clarification that this was not 14 -gauge wire but
14 -gauge mesh, Mr. Springer replied, yes. Ms. Seeley suggested that this variance request has
come up several times and that an adjustment to the code might be a good idea. The only request
building department had was that the mesh be put up on his side of the fence, not the neighbors
side. Director Upton agreed with Ms. Seeley's recommendations. Director Gareau explained that
the board was to decide on the deviation of the code.
Mr. Rahm moved; seconded by Ms. Patton; to approve 23-24062; Scott Springer -3936 Walter
Road.
