signs. Mr. O'Malley discussed the prolonged dispute over corner lot fences, spanning decades
and previous administrations. He emphasized the need for practicality in meeting the 20 -foot
standard and discouraged seeking a variance solely based on personal preference. He deferred
the decision to the board. Mr. Mackey asked Mr. Sorace if he considered less space to be a
hardship. Mr. Sorace replied that considering what was spent on the house, they felt it was
reasonable to be able to utilize the lot space that they purchased. Mr. Mackey asked if
conforming to the code was discussed, to which Mr. Sorace replied that it was. however. the look
of the placement was not acceptable.
Mr. Rahm moved to approve 23-25158: Rvan Sorace: 5261 Berkshire Drive: seconded by Mr.
Kovach.
Board members discussed the historical treatment of corner lot fences. noting the codes' 20 -foot
requirement but acknowledging flexibility. often considering 10 feet based on various factors
like trees and drainage. They recognized the ordnance"s intent to prevent fences right on the
sidewalk, balancing it with practical considerations. Overall, the uniqueness of the lot and
aesthetic considerations were acknowledged, but the variance request was deemed substantial.
Motion Denied: 5-0
23-25169; Richard/Wendy Petrovic; 27528 Cottonwood Trail
Representatives: Richard and Wendy Petrovic: 27528 Cottonwood Trail
Ms. Seeley introduced this proposal as a new shed. The following variance was requested: A 50
square foot variance for the size of a storage building. code allows 150 square feet: applicant
shows 200 square feet. Note: Proposed shed is 10 feet x 20 feet: Lot size: 20,670 square feet.
Mr. Petrovic explained the need to replace his sagging -roof shed. damaged by a fallen branch in
a wooded area. Considering the shed's age, built around 1968. he planned to relocate and replace
it with a larger building. This would serve as additional storage for items currently occupying the
garage. The goal was to create space for his wife's car in winter and accommodate large items
like 12 -foot kayaks and golf clubs. Ms. Seeley added that their lot size was only 1.000 square
feet short of the size that would allow for this size shed.
Mr. Rahm moved to approve 23-25169; Richard and Wendy Petrovic: 27528 Cottonwood Tail:
seconded by Mr. Kovach.
Board members very briefly discussed that the request was not very large and were in favor.
Motion Passed: 5-0
COMMERCIAL APPEALS AND REQUESTS
23-24910; Found Soul Tattoo; 21515 Lorain Road
Representative: Pablo Gonzalez from Amherst.
