Mr. Wurm requested a variance for a parking pad due to limited space on his small lot and the <br />busv nature of Canterbury Road. He explained the need for additional parking to safely pull in <br />and out with three cars. The proposed 15x22 foot pad would allow an -led parking to avoid <br />encroaching on the neighbor's grass. The driveway was installed without <br />a permit by an unregistered contractor in October, exceeding the permitted dimensions. <br />Mr. Webster explained that an unregistered contractor installed the driveway without permits. He <br />was unaware of the non-compliance until receiving a violation notice. Despite being a contractor <br />himself, he was deceived by the contractor he hired. The first was a use variance for a storm water <br />retention basin, and the second was for an access road on Dewey Road. which deviated from the <br />code's requirement for access from an arterial street. <br />Mr. Copley clarified the location of the basin and stated it would maintain its green and wooded <br />periphery. The second request involved creating driveways on both sides of Dewey Road to <br />connect two adjacent dealerships owned by Halleen. This would reduce traffic on Lorain and <br />enhance safety for employees moving cars between lots. <br />Mr. Upton supported the use variance for the split -zoned parcel, noting its unique circumstances <br />and compliance with zoning requirements.
