This new entrance will provide a welcoming space that will comply with ADA
accessibility requirements as well as resolve some physical problems that the current entrance has
developed. The existing entrance is a 2 story structure along the east wall of the existing City Hall
building. This area is an all glass green house style element that was part of the original building design.
As a result of being all glass there is an uncomfortable heat load during the summer months and
inversely cold drafts during the winter months. In addition numerous water leaks have developed at
many mullions and at the area where this entry feature is attached to the Main wall of the building. The
door openings into this entry are unprotected from snow, ice and finish materials, such as flooring, used
in the lobby have become worn creating hazards and consequently in need of replacement.
Multiple design options have been presented to the Administration. The Administration selected Scheme
"H" and presented it to the Planning Commission on June 14, 2005. The selected scheme involves
additional architectural and engineering services, which are detailed in the June 23, 2005 meeting
minutes and summarized in this revised proposal.
ARCHITECTURE
• Design entry ramps, curb cuts and landscaping on north and south sides of new addition.
• Design masonry /metal guardrail between ramp and parking lot.
• Design Foyer /Entrance area with new sliding glass doors on the exterior and in the interior
doorways. Hardware as stated in meeting June 23rd meeting minutes.
• Design a second floor area over the new foyer in- filled to expand the upper level to create a new
Caucus /Conference Room.
• Develop the previous Caucus /Conference Room to become the new Council Clerk's office.
• Revise existing upper level lobby"to accommodate new Caucus /Conference Room and Council
Clerks Office.
Design new windows in the existing E.I.F. S. wall system for the new Council Clerks office and a
dummy window added to the wall at the computer room.
N.X[TY NORTH OLMSfED.CLE\CN00401\CORR \CONTRACT DOCS\SOOPE OF SVMCN00401 SOS REV 1.00C
