<br />negotiated proposals and assist in awarding and preparing <br />contracts for construction. <br />D. Construction Phase - ARCHITECT will: <br />• Advise and consult with the Owner during the construction <br />phase, as well as visit the site at intervals appropriate to the <br />stage of the contractor's operations in order to become <br />generally familiar with and to keep the Owner informed about <br />the progress and quality of the work completed, endeavor to <br />guard the Owner against defects and deficiencies in the work, <br />and determine in general if the work is being performed in <br />accardance with the contract documents. <br />• Review and certify the amounts due to the contractor and issue <br />certificates in such amounts. <br />• Reject work that does not conform to the contract documents. <br />• Review and approve or take appropriate action upon contractor <br />submittals such as shop drawings, product data and samples for <br />checking for conformance with the design concept expressed in <br />the contract documents. <br />• Assist in preparations of change orders along with supporting <br />documentation and data. <br />• Assist in project closeout. <br />1.2 The scope of work for any Section 2. Optional Services of the <br />ARCHITECT, if and when determined by the CITY to be necessary, shall be determined <br />upon receipt of an approved scope and work task breakdown the ARCHITECT and upon <br />written authorization from the CITY to proceed with the optional services. <br />+ + END OF EXHIBIT I + + <br />12 <br />
