. , <br />(a) Students; <br />(b) Part-time and Seasonai employees; <br />(c) Employees who have not completed their probationary period; <br />(d) Regular fuli-tirne employees within the classification affected who have completed their <br />probationary period; <br />(e) In the application of the foregoing employees will be retained by reason of their seniority <br />only if they are able to perform the availabie work. <br />Section 2. Regular Full-time emp(oyees shall be iaid off on the basis of their seniority within their <br />cfassificafion. When the seniority or service af two (2) or more employees is equal, employees shall be laid <br />off by the drawing of lots. !n the event an employee cannot hold his present c{assification, he shall have <br />the right to "bump" an employee with lesser seniority in an equal or Iower rated classificafion within the <br />City, provided the employee has the ability to do the work of the classificafion. <br />Section 3. A regular fufl-time employee shall be given a minimum of two (2) weeks advance notice of <br />layoff for lack of work. <br />Section 4. In the event an employee is laid off for lack of work, he shalt receive payment for any earned <br />but unused vacation as quickly as practicable, but no later than fourteen (14) calendar days after the lay- <br />off. <br />ARTICLE 18 - RECAlL FROM LAY-OFF <br />Section 'l. Employees shall be recalled to their classification in accordance with seniority or to other jobs <br />they are qualified to perform in accordance with their seniority in the reverse order of their lay-off. An <br />employee on lay-off will be given seven (7) calendar days' notice of recall from the date on which the <br />United States Posta( Service makes the first attempt to deliver the recall notice by certified mail to the <br />employee's last known address as shown on the City's records. This period may be extended by <br />agreement between the City and the Union. <br />19
