9 , , <br />Section 5 An employee awarded a job under Article 19 of this Agreement will be given reasonable help <br />and supervision and shall be allowed thirty (30) working days to satisfactarily pertorm the required duties <br />with no more supervision than is required by other employees on. the same or similar jobs, and when his <br />record as to quality and quantity of work meets the standard applicable to the job. If the employee fails to <br />so perForm within thirty (30) days, or if the employee himself so requests within ten (10) days after he has <br />been awarded the job, he shall be returned to his former job. An employee awarded a jab under the <br />provisions of Article 19 shall receive at the time of the award, the appropriate rate of pay in the <br />classification. <br />Section 6. No employee shall be efigible for promotion, or lateral or downward transfer. Under these <br />provisions until he has satisfactorily compfeted the required probationary period. <br />Section 7. When employees retire or leave City employment, the vacancy will be replaced by promoting a <br />current employee from the farnily of jobs contained herein. <br />Section 8. The Employer agrees to allow employees, a one-time bid to another crew prior to hiring from <br />the outside. The bid wiU be open to all Service Employees and shall move from their current step, i.e.; A- <br />A, B-B, C-C. <br />ARTICLE 20 - TEMPORARY TRANSFERS <br />Sectian 1. When an employee is temporarily transferred for one (1) hour or more to another classification, <br />he shall receive the higher of his regular rate of the next higher rate of the job to which he is transferred for <br />the entire period of time of the transfer. A temporary transfer shall not exceed thirty (30) working days <br />except: <br />(a) to fill a vacancy caused by an employee being on sick leave or other approved leave of <br />absence; <br />(b) to provide vacation relief scheduling; <br />(c) to fill an opening temporarily pending permanent filling of such opening; <br />(d) ta meet an emergency situation; <br />(e) to meet changes in the work load; and <br />(fi) to accommodate the presence of summer employees. <br />Section 2. Temporary transfers shall be assigned to the least senior employee within the classification <br />needed.
