. , <br />EXHlBIT B-78 <br />JOB CLASSIFICATION LEAD MAINTENANCE MECHANIC <br />RESPONSIBLE TO MAINTENANCE GENERAL FOREMAN <br />NATURE OF WORK <br />Employees within this job classification are required to be skilled in construction, <br />maintenance, service, repair af inechanical equipment and overhaul equipment related to <br />wastewater processes and Iift station equipment. <br />Employees within the job classification Lead Mechanic must have a thorough <br />knowledge of all equipment. Work involves a variety of repair and maintenance tasks in <br />maintaining efficient and affective operation of pumping stations, wastewater treatment plant, <br />related appurtenances and facilities. Must have skill in a variety of bench, hand and machine <br />tools requiring accuracy and precision. Assignments are made to specific jobs and generally <br />include sketches, biueprints, oral or written instructions. Supervision may be exercised over ail <br />mechanics and mechanic helpers in proper repair procedures, welding, fabrications, machining <br />procedures, specific maintenance and repair activities. <br />Employees within the job classification Lead mechanic shall work in cooperation with <br />or under limited general supervision from the General Maintenance Foreman. Employees <br />within the job classificatian Lead Mechanic are responsible for organization of his work <br />assignments with instruction available from the General Maintenance Foreman for out of the <br />ordinary situations and problems. <br />Emplayees within the job classification Lead mechanic shall perform other duties <br />assigned, within the general character and scope of duties described above. <br />EXAMPLES OF WORK <br />Operates maclune and hand tools in repairing defective parts of pumps, motors, valves, <br />chemical feeders and related mechanical equipment and recording devices of wastewater <br />pumping stations and treatment plant. <br />Replaces defective elements, lubricates bearings; re-packs valves and pumps, replaces <br />defective valves, motors, pumps and controls, etc. <br />Performed skilled machine work, precision welding, steam-fitting, plumbing and boiler <br />repair, repair chemical feeders, chlorine machines and heating; circulating and other pumps, <br />repairs water and steam drain lines, assists in the installation of new and repairing of old steam, <br />air, water and chemical lines. <br />May be assigned to operate the pumping stations, and treatment plant on assigned shift <br />for emergency situations. <br />79
