29.3 The purpose of this committee shall be to conduct research, develop recommendations, study, and <br />review matters pertaining to occupational safety and health within the Fire Department. <br />29.4 The committee shall hold regularly scheduled meetings and shall be permitted to hold special <br />meetings whenever necessary. Regular meetiugs shall be held at least ance in every six months. <br />Written minutes sha11 be retained and shall be made available to all Employees. <br />29.5 The committee shall make recommendations to the Fire Chief on matters concerning the safety <br />and health of department members. The Fire Chief shall respond within fourteen (14) days or <br />within a mutaally agreed time frame. Should a dispute exist with respect to the decision of the <br />Fire Chief regarding corrective measures, the committea may submit those recammendations to <br />the Safety Director requesting relief from the Fire Chiefls decision. Upon receipt, the Safety <br />Director shall respond within ten days. The decision of the Safety Director may be appeaied to the <br />Mayor or his designee and his decision shali be finai. <br />ARTICLE XXX <br />COMPEN5ATORY TIME <br />30.1 Each Employee sha11 have the right to convert Overtime hours into Compensatory Time with the <br />approval of the Fire Chief or his designee on a dollar-foc-dollar basis. Emptoyees shall be paid for <br />all Compensatory Time accumulated in excess of four hundred eighty (480) hours on the next <br />scheduled pay. <br />30.2 Employees may have the right to take Compensatory Time when the tune off does not interfere <br />with the operation of the Fire Departrnent. The taking off of such Compensatory Time shall be <br />subject to the approvat of the Fire Chief or his designee. Overtime shall be converted to <br />Compensatory Time at the current rate of pay plus Longevity on a dollar-for dotlar basis. <br />30.3 An Employee or his estate shall be paid for unused, accumulated Compensatory Time at the time <br />of disability, retirement or death at the Basic Hourly Rate of Pay for his work week plus longevity <br />if applicable. <br />42
