If the day would have been Community Circulator only, the hours witl <br />be paid at the Community CircuIator Rate. <br />c. Overtime Rate- The operator will be paid the overtime rate based on the vehicle being <br />operated when an overtime status occurs. <br />Section 34.02 Operators who are assigned a training operator shail be paid an additional one <br />dollar($1.00) per hour for the time spent with the training operator and shall be required to rate and <br />evaluate the training operator. <br />Section 34.03 There is an estabiished operator training progrann which shall not exceed thirty (30) <br />days and any operator who is included within said trairung program shall be paid Bus operator Rate Step <br />1 for the hours spent in training. All road instruction shall be conducted by only full-tirne operators, or <br />the Training Instructor. <br />Section 34.04 Dispatcher/Driver <br />a. When tlie Employer determines the necessity to fill the appointed position of <br />Dispatcher/Driver, the Employer shall post the position for a period of three (3) consecutive <br />days. Employees interested in applying for the appointed position of DispatcherlDriver shall be <br />required to file a written application with the Genera.l Manager or tus designee within the time <br />period stated in the posting. The General Manager or his designee shall review all applications <br />received, interview applicants, and award the job in accordance with Article 29, Promotions. If <br />no employee malces application or if no applicant meets the minimum qualification, the <br />Employet may assign a bargaining unit employee of its choice, or fill the position from outside <br />the bargaining unit. <br />b. When such appointment to the position of Dispatcher/Driver is determined by the Employer <br />to be for a temporary period of time not to excced thirty (30) days, posting of the position shalt <br />not be required and the Employer shall assign an Employee of it's choice during this temporary <br />period. The Employer shall assign an Employee of it's choice for a temporary period of time <br />which may exceed thirty(30) days without posting under the foltowing circumstances: (I) to fill a <br />vacancy caused by an Employee being on sick leave or other approved leave of absence, (ii) to <br />provide vacation relief scheduling, (iii) ta meet an emergency situation; and (iv) to meet <br />temporary changes in the work load. The Employer reserves the right to appoint an Employee of <br />their choice to the position of Dispatcher Driver. <br />c. The number of Dispatcher/Drivers appointed and the hours worked shall be at the sole <br />discretion of the employer. A Dispatcher/Driver shall work a minimum of five (5) days in a <br />work week and a minimum of forty (40) hours per work week. <br />d. The Employer reserves the right to assign and return a Dispatcher/ Driver to their former <br />position with no loss of seniority. The employee also reserves the right to retum to their former <br />position with continuing accnaal of seniority. In either above case a minimum of a two week <br />notice shall be given and the employee shall return at the beginning of the next Run Pick. <br />e. An Employee in the appointed position of Dispatcher/Driver shall be paid on an hourly basis at <br />ihe GCRTA Rate of Grade 5, Supervisor of Bus Operations. <br />32 <br />I
