emergency situation, verbal continunication with the supervisor is appropriate and may justify <br />waiving advailce notification. <br />ARTICLE XI PROBATIONARY PERIOD <br />11.01 The probationary period for all new employees shall continue for twelve (12) months <br />after the employee(s) successfully completes the Employer's Police Department's Field Training <br />Yrogram. During this probationary period, the employee shall have no rights to appeal any 1-orm <br />of disciplinary action, including termination through the Grievance Procedure or to any Civil <br />Service Commission. <br />ARTICLE XII HEALTH INSURANCE <br />12.01 The Employer shall provide, pursuant to Appendix A, either individual or family medical <br />insurance coverage at the employee's option for each full-time employee. The insurance <br />coverage in effect in 2006 shall continue through 2007. The Employer shall have the option of <br />seel:ing alternate health insurance providers or plans. <br />12.02 Effective January l, 2008, employees shall pay ten (10°ro) percent and the Employer <br />shall pay ninety (90%) percent of the insurance plan costs. <br />All einployee contributions, as required by this Article, shall be withheld via payroll <br />deduction not later than the first pay period each month for all the employee percentage <br />contributions stated above. <br />12.03 Employees shall participate in the AFSCME Benefit Plan at the present level of benefits. <br />Vision - Optional Plan #1 (Vision plan which was in effect August 1,1994). <br />Optional Plan 92 (Vision plan similar to that offered throughout <br />Union Eye Care). <br />12.04 Expected cost or premium is defined as the cost of all medical, hospital, prescription <br />drug, and related fees including, but not limited to administrative fees. <br />12.05 The Employer reserves the right to establish all plans, enrollinent period.s and regulations. <br />12.06 All changes affecting the plan providers, eiirollment periods and regulations shall be <br />coilsidered subject to reeommendation by the healthcare coinmittee in accordance with Section <br />12.09. <br />12.07 The Employer will secure a commercial insurance policy whereby any bargaining Lu1it <br />meii7ber lcilled in the line of duty shall receive to his spouse or estate, a payment of fifty <br />ihousand ($50,000.00) dollars. Sllch payment will be made in accordance with the terms of the <br />commercial plan.
