14.7 All employees shall receive two (2) eight (8) hour days off, plus an acJc3icional fi>tir <br />(4) hours with pay, or the Employee may etect lcr receive twenty (20) hours pay for eacli six (6) <br />consecutive months af unused siek Jeave. Unused sick teave days earned may he carried over, if <br />nat taken within ane (1) year of date of day earned, to the fattowing year, with a maximum of tive <br />(S) days. <br />° 14.8 Accumulated unused sick leave time may be converted at the time of retiremeiit or <br />death for all full-time sworn members of the Police Deparfinent. The payment foc all those who <br />qualify under this Section shall be based upan the rate of pay of the employee at tlze tinie of his <br />retirement or death, and payenent shalI amount io one-half (1/2) af the unused accumuiated sick <br />leave time, but in all instances, the ma3cimzun amount paid shall not exceed an aruocuit in excess <br />of one thousand (1,000) hours accumulated unused sick time. <br />0*1", <br />? 14.9 Empioyees may use up to fifteen (15) work ciays per year of earned and <br />accumulated sick leave if necessitated by illness in the employee's inunediate famiiy. Hawever, if <br />an employee uses more than seven (7) sick work days per calendar year far this purpose, the <br />employer may require that the empioyee pravide a certificate from the "immediate f'a.,nily" <br />member's doctor(s), expla'?ning the need and purpose of the emptoyee's absence. For purpases of <br />this subsectior?, "immediate family" shatl be interpreted io be spouse, children, pareiits of ihe <br />employee, regardless of the place of residence; and other retatives living within the househc?ld of <br />the employee. <br /> <br />22 <br />
