If the day would have been Community Circulator only, the hours <br />will be paid at the Community Circulator Rate. <br />c. Overtime Rate- The operator will be paid the overtime rate based on the vehicle being <br />operated when an overtime status occurs. <br />Section 34.02 Operators who are assigned a training operator shall be paid an additional forty cents <br />($.40) per hour for the time spent with the training operator and shalI be required to rate and evaluate <br />the training operator. <br />Section 34.03 There is an established operator training program which shall not exceed thirty (30) <br />days and any operator who is included within said training program shall be paid Bus operator Rate <br />Step I for the hours spent in training. All road instruction shall be conducted by only full-time <br />operators, or the Training Instructor. <br />Section 34.04 Dispatcher/Driver <br />a. When the Employer determines the necessiry to fill the appointed position of <br />Dispatcher/Driver, the Employer shall post the position for a period of three (3) consecutive days. <br />Employees interested in applying for the appointed position of Dispatcher/Driver shall be required to <br />file a written application with the General Manager or his designee within the time period stated in <br />the posting. The General Manager or his designee shall review a11 applications received, interview <br />applicants, and award the job in accordance with Article 29, Promotions. If no employee makes <br />application or if no applicant meets the minimum qualification, the Employer may assign a <br />bargaining unit emptoyee of its choice, or f 11 the position from outside the bargaining unit. <br />b. When such appointment to the position of Dispatcher/Driver is determined by the <br />Employer to be for a temporary period of time not to exceed thiriy (30) days, posting of the position <br />shall not be required and the Employer shall assign an Employee of it's choice during this temporary <br />period. The Employer shall assign an Employee of it's choice for a temporary period of time which <br />may exceed thirty(30) days without posting under the following circumstances: (I) to fill a vacancy <br />caused by an Employee being on sick leave or other approved Ieave of absence; (ii) to provide <br />vacation relief scheduling; (iii) to meet an emergency situation; and (iv) to meet temporary changes in <br />the work load. The Employer reserves the right to appoint an Employee of their choice to the <br />position of Dispatcher Driver. <br />c. The number of Dispatcher/Drivers appointed and the hours worked shall be at the sole <br />discretion of the employer. A Dispatcher/Driver shal] work a minimum of five (5) days in a work <br />week and a minimum of forty (40) hours per work week. <br />d. The Employer reserves the right to assign and return a Dispatcher/ Driver to their former <br />position with no loss of seniority. The employee also reserves the right to return to their former <br />position with continuing accrual of seniority. In either above case a minimum of a two week notice <br />shall be given and the employee shall return at the beginning of the next Run Pick. <br />e. An Employee in the appointed position of Dispatcher/Driver shall be paid on an hourly basis <br />at the GCRTA Rate of Grade 5, Supervisor of Bus Operations. <br />29 <br />
