These
critical items were started in order to have a complete high speed, high solids, solid bowl
dewatering centrifuge system in full operation by the end of 2000 supported by a
temporary sludge pumping and piping arrangement. The original project schedule also
called for completion of the sludge pumping and piping arrangement and acquisition of
major dewatering centrifuge replacement parts in 2001.
Actions have already been started in 2000 based on the original project schedule.
These actions are in addition to two actions that were initiated in late 1999 and have since
been completed. The following table identifies the initiated actions and the completed
actions:
Action Funding Source Current Status
Purchase of Electrical Conduiting 1999 Plant Equipment Completed
and J-boxes line item
Purchase of a new Sludge Feed 1999 Plant Equipment Completed
Pump Variable Frequency Drive line item
Modification of Odor Group B/C 2000 Plant Equipment Completed
Motor Control Center line item
Change of Biosolids Disposal 2000 Sludge Disposal Completed
Method line item
Purchase of Spiral Stairs 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge Awaiting delivery in July
line item 2000
Purchase of Moyno Pipeliner 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge Awaiting delivery in July
line item 2000
Professional Services Assistance 2000 Consultation Services Services started during last
Contract line item week of June 2000
Purchase of Dewatering Centrifuge 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge Awaiting completion of
Sludge Feed Flow Meter line item pilot testing work
Purchase of IVloyno Sludge Cake 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge Awaiting completion of
Pumn line item pilot testing work
Funding Source for the Recommended Lease
The source of funds for the recommended lease would be the $250,000
dewatering centrifuge amount contained in the Capital Improvements line item of the
2000 Wastewater Division Budget Authorization. These funds were authorized by City
Council for the acquisition of a complete high speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering
centrifuge system having a capacity of 25 gpm to 40 gpm.
As a result of this lease recommendation, the entire $250,000 amount will likely
not be encumbered during 2000. The following table presents a breakdown of the
