Project Personne/ 5-7
tensioned structure. Managed investigations to establish renovation requirements for the garage,
including structural, drainage, mechanical, and electrical system evaluations through design
development documents and assisted in analyzing feasibility of replacement versus renovation.
Managed the electrical and mechanical design, plans and specifications, and construction
administration for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District's 112,200-square-foot district
operations center and vehicle maintenance building, including a wastewater testing laboratory.
Industrial Wastewater Treatment
• Managed a capacity study of the Blooming Prairie and Elf Atochem wastewater treatment facilities
to assess their potential for accepting additional load from the industry. Collected and evaluated
existing data for the sequencing batch plants at both sites. Developed recommendations for
equalization and nutrient addition improvements at the industrial facility, which improved
performance for additional loads.
• Managed a design/build project to provide water treatment and cooling for 9,330 gallons per minute
of process contact cooling water for the Charter Steel rolling mill in Saukville, Wisconsin. Installed
inside scale pit pumps, circulaz outside scale pits to provide additional scale and oil removal, filter
feed pumps, high-rate filters for solids removal, cooling towers to provide water temperature
control, and return pumps to provide cooling water at SO psi to the rolling mill stands.
• Conducted a mitigation study to minimize odors from the primary clarifier at LSPI paper mill and
Superior Paper Industries in Duluth, Minnesota. Analyzed existing data and performed odor, air,
and wastewater testing. Recommended revising pH adjustment procedures, which minimized odor
complaints from the clarifier. Subsequently conducted sampling, characterizing, and prioritizing of
air emission sources at both sites.
• Led the process team for the 10-mgd primary wastewater treatment plant and the feasibility study
team for planned secondary treatment facilities for a Kimberly-Clark mill that produces 100 tons
per day of high-quality specialty papers in Munising, Michigan. Assessed equalization, chemical
addition, primary clarifier, neutralization, standby power, sludge storage, and screw press
dewatering systems. Provided preliminary site plan layout and sizing for future activated sludge
secondary treatment to replace existing lagoons.
• Provided the process engineering for design and construction documents for a lime slurry storage
and feed system for sludge conditioning prior to filter press dewatering at the waste management
CID biological treatment facility in Calumet City, Illinois. Worked on a 6,000-gallon storage tank,
lime slurry mixer, transfer pump, transfer piping, and sludge day tank modifications.
• Managed activities at industrial wastewater pretreatment facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, to meet
copper, lead, and zinc discharge limitations. Developed contract documents and construction
services for the 1,000-gpm pretreatment and sludge handling facilities.
• Managed the preliminary design, plans, and specifications, for a project in Cleveland, Ohio, to
reuse up to 800 gpm of industrial treatment plant effluent for cooling water in the plant by
providing pH adjustment, cooling, storage, and pumping facilities.
• Served as project manager for an open-channel hydraulics study of flow in the melting area sluice
of a plant in Cleveland, Ohio, to minimize flooding of the melt area floor. Prepared plans and
specifications for recommended improvements to 3-mgd submersible pumping stations and force
