Projecf Undersfanding 1-3
3. Return activated sludge system hydraulic analysis to extend RAS piping below
aeration tank water surface, improving control of dissolved oxygen concentrations in
the aeration tanks.
- Design matched to both old and new RAS pumps
- Analysis af head and flow required for future RAS pump replacement
completed as part of analysis
- Plans prepared for work done by City employees
Together the WWTP staff & M&E made a difference for the City of North Olmsted.
- Very low installed costs
- Dissolved oxygen control goals met
- Sizing for future pump replacement completed concurrently with pipe
change evaluation
4. Unloading station screen improvement design.
- Design developed using materials available from WWTP inventory
- Prepared plans for fabrication by City employees.
Together the WWTP staff & M&E made a difference for the City of North Olmsted.
- Screen design matched to unloading station operation needs
- Very low installed costs
5. Centrifugal specification and procurement procedures development assistance.
- Provided recommendations on centrifuge pilot plant procedures
- Developed preliminary pilot plant comparison spreadsheet for selecting
unit best meeting City's needs
Together the WWTP staff & M&E made a difference for the City of North Olmsted.
- Procedure developed for low cost changes from thermal conditioning to
centrifugal sludge dewatering
- Plan developed to reduce operating costs and odor related complaints at
VVWTP
Our performance on these projects clearly demonstrates our understanding of the North Olmsted
WWTP facilities, its operation needs and the long term goal of minimizing future rate increases.
The installation of centrifuge detwatering is on target with the plant's future needs and we
strongly endorse implementing the project.
We propose the same M&E staff for the 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge project that successfully
completed our previous project assignment at the WWTP.
