13.10 All requests for vacatioiis shall be acted upon before the end of the sluft oit wluch they are <br />submitted, provided they are subnutted prior to 1400 hours. <br />ARTICLE XiV <br />SICK LEAVE <br />14.1 Sick leave shall be earned in accordance cvrith the Ohio State minimum requirements and <br />accumulation shall be unlimited <br />14.2 Line Personnel shall have the option to receive twentv six (26) hours compeiisatory tiine or twenty <br />six (26) hours pay at the Basic Hourly Rate of Pay for Line Persomiei plus Longevity• for each six <br />consecutive manths of unused Sick Leave. Staff Personnel shalI have the option to receive twenty <br />(20) hours compensatorf, time or twenty (20) hours pay at the Basic Hourl}• Rate of Pay for Staff <br />Persoimel plus Longevity for each six consecutive months of unused sick leave. Selection of such <br />time off shall be subject to the approval of the Fire Cluef or his desig}iee. <br />14.3 An Employee or his estate shall be paid for unused, accumulated Sick Leave at the time of <br />disabilitv, retirement or deatli. Pa_yment shall be based upon the Basic Houri_y Rate of Pay for his <br />"work week" at the time of disabilit_y, retirement or death plus Longei7ty and the amount shall be <br />one-half of the unused Sick Leave with a maximum payment of 960 hours. <br />14.4 Any Employee who transfers from one department within the City of North Olmsted to another <br />sliall be credited with the unused balwzce of Sick Leave accumulaled. <br />14.5 Sick Leave may be taken for any of the following reasons: <br />A. Iliness or injury to the employee. <br />B. Iliness or injury of a member of the Employee's immediate family. <br />C. Medical, dental, or optical examination or treatment of the Employee, where the treatment <br />may not be scheduled during non-worlcing hours. <br />D. Exposure to contagous disease where quarantined by the Board of Health or cornmunicable <br />to other Employees. <br />E.
