273 The Employee may be required to work weekends while on jury dury. He shall not be required to <br />work 12 hours before jury duty or twelve hours after jury duty. <br />ARTICLE XXVIII <br />CONTINUING EDUCATION <br />The Employer shall provide continuing education for those Employees who are required to recertify in <br />azeas that require mandatory recertificafion for the Employee to maintain employment. Costs for <br />continuing educarion shall be paid by the Employer and if said education requires the Employee to attend <br />classes above and beyond his Normal Work Schedule, he shall be paid Overtime Pay. The education must <br />be approved in advance by the Fire Chief or his designee. <br />ARTICLE XXIX <br />EQUIPMENT AND GEAR <br />29.1 The Employer shall furnish and maintain at no cost to the Employee all gloves, helmets, protective <br />clothing and other protective equipment necessary to preserve and protect the safety and health of <br />the Employee as determined by the Fire Chief. <br />29.2 An Occuparional Safety and Health Committee shall be established and shall serve in an advisory <br />capacity to the Fire Chief. The committ ee shall include the designated Fire Department safety <br />officer, representatives of Fire Department management, and three members of the North Olmsted <br />Fire Department, chosen by the Union, who have attained the rank of First Class or higher. The <br />committee shall also be permitted to include other persons, to be appointed by the Fire Chief. <br />293 The purpose of this committee shall be to conduct research, develop recoinmendarions, study, and <br />review matters pertaining to occupational safety and health within the Fire Department. <br />29.4 The committee shall hold regulazly scheduled meetings and shall be permitted to hold special <br />meetings whenever necessary. Regulaz meetings shall be held at least once in every six months. <br />Written minutes shall be retained and shall be made available to all Employees. <br />38 <br />. , r -? -, . , <br />; ' _.. a?.
