other Union activities which necessitate a suspension of active empioyment. Additional <br />absences for Union business may be permitted as conditions permit, having in mind the <br />volume of work. <br />ARTICLE 15- PAID SICK LEAVE <br />Section 1. A full-time employee who has comp(eted his probationary period shall <br />be granted sick leave for persona( i(Iness or injury as foilows: <br />(a) Paid sick leave shaii be earned and accumulated at the rate of one <br />and one fourth (1 1/4) days for each month; <br />(b) Pay for sick leave shall be at the employee's straight time hourly <br />rate (or portion thereof if absent for less than a full day); <br />(c) If an employee is absent on sick leave for more than three (3) <br />consecutive work days, the City shall require the employee to <br />present medical evidence that the employee was under a <br />doctor's care and is able to return to work. The City will review <br />the attendance records of employees periodically and at least <br />once in each three (3) month period. If the City believes that an <br />employee is developing an attendance problem, the City will notify <br />the employee in writing that medical evidence will be required <br />for absences of three (3) days or less. When an employee's <br />record becomes satisfactory, the requirement for such medica( <br />evidence for short term absences will be removed, and the <br />employee witl be notified in writing. <br />(d) Employees may use up to fifteen (15) work days per year of <br />earned and accumulated sick leave if necessitated by illness <br />in the employee's immediate family.
