ARTICLE 3 - NON-DtSCRIMINATION <br />Section 1. Both the City and the Union recognize their respective responsibilities <br />under the federal and state civil rights laws, fair employment practice acts and other <br />similar constitutional and statutory requirements. Therefore, both the City and the Union <br />hereby reaffirm their commitments, legal and moral, not to discriminate in any manner <br />relating to employment on the basis of race, color, cr-eed, national origin, sex, age, <br />handicap/disability or any other invidious reason. <br />Section 2. The City recognizes the rights of all employees and applicants for <br />employment to be free to join the Union and participate in lawful, concerted Union <br />activities. Therefore, the City agrees that there shall be no discrimination, interference, <br />restraint, coercion, or reprisal by the City against any employee or any applicant for <br />employment because of Union membership or because of any lawful activity in an <br />official capacity on behalf of the Union. The Union recognizes the right of all employees <br />and all applicants for employment to be free to join or not to join the Union. <br />Section 3. All of the employees of the City within the bargaining unit shall <br />receive equitable treatment and share in any all benefits provided herein. <br />ARTICLE 4 - CHECK-OFFIFAIRSHARE FEE <br />Section 1. The City shall deduct the initiation fee and regular monthly dues from <br />the pay of employees covered by this Agreement upon receipt from the Union of <br />individual written authorization cards voluntarily exec:uted by an employee for that <br />purpose and bearing his signature, provided that any employee shall have the right to <br />revoke such authorization during any thirty (30) to forty-five (45) day period prior to the <br />expiration of any collective bargaining agreement by giving written notice to the union <br />with proof of service. <br />2 <br />?rf
