Section 2. Seniority shail mean an emp(oyee's uninterrupted length of continuous <br />service with the City measured from his last hiring date as a regular part-time/full-time <br />employee. An employee shall have no seniarity for the probationary period provided in Article <br />8, Section 1, but upon completion of the probationary period, seniority shall be retroactive to the <br />date of hire. Seniority will be accrued for regular part-time employees on actual hours worked. <br />Section 3. The City shall provide the Union with a copy of the seniority lists and these <br />lists shall be updated every six (6) months. The seniority lists shall be made up by <br />classifications and shall contain in order of date of hire, the name, department, date of hire and <br />classification seniority date of each employee. Seniority lists shall be posted an each Union <br />Bulletin Board. <br />Section 4. Continuous service and seniority shall be broken when an empioyee: <br />(a) Quits or resigns; <br />(b) Is discharged for just cause; <br />(c) Is laid off for a period equal to the amount of seniority held at <br />the time fhe lay-off commences, or forty-eight (48) consecutive <br />months, whichever is less; <br />(d) Fails to report to work within seven (7) calendar days when <br />recatled from lay-off by certifed mail addressed to the employee's <br />iast known address as shown on the City's records, unless the <br />employee is unable to work due to medically proven disability; <br />(e) !s absent without report for three (3) consecutive work days, <br />unless the employee has a reasonable excuse for failing to <br />report the absence. <br />Section 5. The City shall advise the Union in writing of additions to or deletions from the <br />seniority list at the end of each pay period when the action took place. A copy of the list of <br />additions and/or deletions will be sent to the Loca1 Union President and the Local Union <br />Treasurer. <br />11 <br />
