Eight Hundred (800) hours in period <br />711195 - 6/30/96 <br />Nine Hundred (900) hours in period <br />7/1 /96 - 6/30/97 <br />Nine Hundred and Sixty (960) hours in periad <br />After 7/1/97 <br />(fl An employee should make an effort to schedufe medical and <br />dental appointments for himself and his family members during <br />non-working hours. <br />(g) Sick leave taken the day prior to or the day after a scheduled <br />vacation or holiday will require a medical excuse prior to approval <br />for payment. <br />Section 4. Parental Leave: All employees shall be entitted to parental leave of absence <br />upon the birth or adoption of a child. The duration of the leave shall be flexible at the <br />employee's discretion and shaH not be permitted in less than one (1) full day increments. In any <br />event, such leave shall not extend beyond six (6) months from the date of commencement. An <br />employee shall be entitled to use vacation leave or sick leave in iieu of being unpaid. If an <br />employee exhausts all vacation feave credit and sick leave credits, the employee shali not be <br />paid for parental leave. During any unpaid portion of such leave, the employee shall not <br />accumulate sick leave credits for that period. Employees seeking parentai leave must notify the <br />Employer three (3) days prior to taking leave. <br />Section 5. General Leave Provisions: <br />(a) All leaves of absences when known in advance (and any <br />extensions thereoq must be applied for and granted in writing <br />on forms provided by the City (copy to the employee).
