testing a employee's skill and ability to operate equipment, shall be given in a fair and equitable <br />manner and will be given on equipment that is required to be used in the job classification. <br />Effective June 1, 1995 through the duration of this agreement, regular full-time Clerical and <br />Technical Unit personnel may bid on jobs in the Service / Waste Water Unit, providing no <br />eligible employee within that unit has bid on the job. Job postings for Service / Waste Water unit <br />positions will be posted at the bulletin board locations cited in Article 5. Employees awarded <br />such jobs will be given an opportunity to qualify pursuant to Article 14, Section 3. If no <br />employee in either bargaining unit has the skill, experience and ability for the job, the City may <br />hire from outside the bargaining units. <br />Section 3. An employee awarded a job under Section 2 above will be given reasonable <br />help and supervision and shall be allowed thirty (30) working days to qualify for the position. He <br />will be considered to have qualified on the new job when he satisfactorily performs the required <br />duties with no more supervision than is required by other qualified employees on the same or <br />?u <br />similar jobs, and when his record as to quality and quantity of work meets the standard <br />applicable to the job. If he fails to so qualify, he shall be returned to his former job. An <br />employee awarded a job under the provisions of this Article shall receive at the time of his <br />promotion the appropriate rate of pay in the classification. <br />Section 4. No employee shall be eligible for promotion under these provisions until he <br />has satisfactorily comp?eted the required probationary period. <br />Section 5. Employees shali be trained during working hours on computers and or other <br />equipment. <br />The following positions shall require the ability to use word processors and computers: <br />Secretary I, Secretary II, Palice Secretaries, Building Inspector, Head Cashier, Engineering <br />Inspector. <br /> <br />20 <br />
