Employee's on an unpaid-sick Ieave, parental leave, or has <br />exhaust.ed his accumulated sick leave shall not be entitled to any <br />benefits, except hospitaZ/surgical benefits which shall continue to be <br />provided by the E-mployer fox a period af t?me »at to exceed ninety (90) <br />days. Duxing the afbrementioned ninetX (90) day time period, the <br />emploXee shall be required ta pay his pxaportioanate shaxe af the cast <br />as required within Article 28, of the Agreement. The pxdportianate cost <br />shall be paid tv the Emplayex by the employee in acivance an or before <br />the first day of the month. The EmployeX shall cantinue to pay its <br />proportXonate shax-e of the Gost as required within Articie 28, of the <br />Agreement during this ninety (90) day period. AEter ninety (90) days, <br />the employee shall be required to pay to the Emp].cyer, the fuxl cost of <br />the cost of such hospital/surgical benefits in advance an a monthly <br />basis, oommencing an the ninety-first (51st) day. Any employee that <br />fails to pay his proportzonate share or the full cost as described <br />shall be dropped as a participant from the group health plan for <br />nQnPayment, as x-equired by thxs Agreement. An employee that is dropped <br />from the group health plan far non-payment shall ozaly be eligzbZe to <br />participate after the conc3.usion of tr.e leave and anly upon his active <br />return to wark. Employees shall be subject to al2 af the tex-ms and <br />conditions of the group health plan. <br />ARTICLE 22: <br />INJURY LEAVE <br />SECTION 1: In the event that afull-time employee or the North <br />Olznsted Pol_ice Department should be injUxed while in the line of duty <br />due to a sudden and accidental occurrence, and such injuxy has so <br />izacapacitated said membex of the Folice Department that he is <br />temporarily unable to woxk, then the Director of Public Safety, after <br />determinxng that said injury is wdrk-rel.ated and is of a temporary <br />nature, znay authorize ninety (90) days sick leave. If after such <br />ninpty (90) days si.ck Xeave period said emp].ayee is still temporarily <br />incapacitated, then the Director of Public Safety shall recammend to <br />Gouncil whether or not to continue saxd salary. Council shall <br />forthwith review the matter and, by majority vote, determine whether <br />the employee shall contiriue to receive his full salary durinq <br />recupexation. <br />For the purpose of this paz-agraph, a sudden and accidental injury <br />shall include such incidents as an automobile accident, assauit, gun <br />shat wound and the liKe.
